
KOCHI: To manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Puja festival, Southern Railway has announced special express train services between Ernakulam Junction (Kochi) and Bengaluru Cantonment. Bookings for these special trains opened today, September 28, 2025, at 8:00 AM.
This move aims to provide much-needed connectivity for passengers travelling between Kerala and Karnataka for the holidays. A total of four services will be operated on specific dates in September and October.
Train Schedule and Timings
- Train No. 06147 Ernakulam Jn – Bengaluru Cantonment Special will depart from Ernakulam Junction at 4:20 PM on two Sundays: September 28 and October 5, 2025. It will arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 8:15 AM the following day.
- Train No. 06148 Bengaluru Cantonment – Ernakulam Jn Special will depart from Bengaluru Cantonment at 10:10 PM on two Mondays: September 29 and October 6, 2025. It is scheduled to reach Ernakulam Junction at 10:00 AM the next morning.
Coach Composition and Stoppages
The special trains are designed to cater to various passenger needs, with a composition of AC Two Tier, AC Three Tier, AC Three Tier Economy, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches.
Key stops along the route include Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Podanur (Coimbatore), Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, and Krishnarajapuram, ensuring connectivity for passengers from major towns in both states.
Passengers are advised to book their tickets early through the IRCTC website or authorized reservation counters to avoid the last-minute rush.
