THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the tragic tourist speedboat accident near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, which claimed the lives of two Keralites, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has intervened to ensure swift administrative action. The Chief Minister has officially directed the CEO of NORKA (Non-Resident Keralites Affairs) to get in touch with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam and gather comprehensive details regarding the incident and the victims.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) is maintaining active communication with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to fast-track the formal procedures. Additionally, the Kerala House Resident Commissioner has been designated to lead the inter-departmental coordination in New Delhi.
The deceased Malayali couple has been identified as A.C. Thomas (57) and his wife Loveni Thomas (56), hailing from Kottarakkara. The state government is closely working with embassy officials to expedite the repatriation of the mortal remains and to secure immediate medical support for any other survivors from the state.
