In a dramatic late-night road incident, playback singer A.R. Ameen—son of Academy Award-winning music maestro A.R. Rahman—narrowly escaped serious harm after the sports car he was driving was involved in a collision in Chennai. The incident occurred near the high-density Kathipara flyover signal in the Guindy neighborhood during the early morning hours.
Ameen was traveling alongside a friend from the Koyambedu commercial precinct toward the city center when the incident unfolded. According to initial police reports, a commercial cab merging onto the primary arterial roadway from a feeder service road collided directly with Ameen’s luxury Porsche. The unexpected collision resulted in noticeable vehicle damage and triggered an immediate emergency response.
Medical Evacuation, Treatment, and Hospital Discharge
Immediately following the crash, bystanders and emergency service units arrived at the Guindy junction to assist the occupants. Ameen and his passenger, identified as Bhargav, were rushed to Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet for emergency medical evaluation. Attending physicians confirmed that both individuals suffered minor physical trauma and contusions but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
After undergoing complete diagnostic scans and receiving required first-aid treatment, both Ameen and his friend were declared out of danger and subsequently discharged from the medical facility to recover at home. Meanwhile, an occupant in the other colliding vehicle was taken to the nearby Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital for medical care and was also discharged following preliminary observation.
The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) arrived on the scene shortly after the crash to secure the area, divert traffic, and initiate preliminary forensic analysis. Both damaged vehicles—the high-end Porsche and the commercial hatchback—were taken into police custody as part of the official investigation.
