THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fresh political row has erupted in Kerala following Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan’s accusation that the UDF government is attempting to derail the flagship ‘LIFE Mission’ housing scheme. Responding strongly to the statement, ruling front leaders and political observers labeled the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
Data highlights that within four months of assuming power, the Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan-led UDF administration sanctioned ₹116 crore specifically toward the LIFE Mission to clear pending installments and support rural housing initiatives.
Ruling party representatives stated that the government stepped in to revive projects that were stalling due to financial bottlenecks during the previous administration. Critics have pointed out that accusing the current government of sabotaging a project it actively funds ignores on-ground financial realities.
The government maintained that welfare projects aimed at providing housing for the homeless will continue to receive necessary budgetary backing without political bias
