The makers have officially announced Lokah: Chapter 2 with a captivating video that not only brings the two powerful characters together but also sets the stage for an epic conflict.
The announcement video, which serves as a bridge to the sequel, features a conversation between Tovino Thomas’s character, Michael the ‘Chathan’, and Dulquer Salmaan’s character, Charlie the ‘Odiyan’. The teaser reveals the central plot for the next installment: Michael’s villainous elder brother, another powerful ‘Chathan’, has escaped from imprisonment. To face this formidable foe, Michael seeks the help of Charlie’s ‘Odiyan’.
In a thrilling twist, the announcement confirms that Tovino Thomas will be pulling double duty, portraying both the heroic protagonist Michael and his menacing elder brother, the main antagonist of Chapter 2. This villainous character was briefly glimpsed at the end of “Lokah: Chapter One Chandra.”
The sequel promises to be mounted on a much grander scale than its predecessor. According to the makers, Lokah: Chapter 2 will delve deeper into the mythology, revolving around a total of 390 ‘Chathans’.
This announcement comes as the first film, Lokah: Chapter One Chandra, continues its historic run at the box office. Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer has officially become the highest-grossing Malayalam film worldwide, surpassing the ₹265.5 crore global collection of Mohanlal’s “Empuraan.” In a historic first for Indian cinema, this makes Kalyani Priyadarshan the first female lead to have an industry hit record to her name.
As it enters its 29th day, “Lokah” remains a top trend on online booking platforms and is on track to become the first Malayalam film to cross the coveted ₹300 crore mark at the global box office.
