Festive Joy For All: Kerala Govt Allocates ₹2 Lakh for Onam Celebrations in Child Care Homes Via KFC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ensuring that every child experiences the brightness and joy of the harvest festival, the Government of Kerala has sanctioned a special fund of ₹2 lakh for Onam festivities in state child welfare homes.

Following a request from the Minister for Women and Child Development, Chief Minister directed the funding, which was subsequently released by Umesh Kesavan IAS, Managing Director of Kerala Financial Corporation (KFC) and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister.

The financial allocation will directly benefit around 250 children living in 16 state-run care facilities across Kerala. With these funds, officials will organize a traditional Onam feast (Onasadya), outdoor excursions, and movie outings for the children staying at these shelters during the festive season.

Government representatives noted that this initiative aims to create an inclusive environment so that children under state protection feel loved, cherished, and fully integrated into the state’s grandest festival.
