NEW DELHI: The Government of India has strongly condemned the defacement and vandalism of the Indian Embassy premises in Slovenia by pro-Khalistan separatist elements, calling for strict legal action against those responsible.
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized that under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, diplomatic premises are inviolable and foreign host governments are legally obligated to protect them from any form of intrusion or damage.
India has taken up the matter firmly with Slovenian authorities both through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and at the Embassy in Ljubljana. New Delhi requested local law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Addressing the growing concern over anti-India activities abroad, the MEA also urged international law enforcement agencies worldwide to take strict note of the hate propaganda, vandalism, and disinformation being systematically spread by extremist groups.
This incident follows a troubling series of similar attacks in recent years, where Indian diplomatic missions and consulates in countries such as the UK, Canada, Australia, and the US have been targeted, defaced, or vandalized with pro-Khalistani slogans and flags. India continues to press host nations to step up security around its diplomatic missions to ensure the safety of its staff and properties.
