Kochi : During the festive season of Onam—Kerala’s grand harvest festival—the rich history, folklore, and traditional tales of the state’s paddy fields are taking center stage on the global literary platform. S. Mahadevan Thampi’s acclaimed Malayalam novel Neelam, which unveils the unheard stories of paddy fields spanning from Parassala to Manjeshwaram, has been translated into English under the title Paddy Whisper.
The UK edition of this big-canvas novel has been published globally by the UK-based publisher Legend Times, while the Asian edition is brought out by Konark Publishers, New Delhi. Renowned translator Radhika P. Menon rendered the book into English. This release follows the success of Thampi’s previous works, Muthusoothra and Weeping Needle, which gained significant attention among English readers when published by Legend Times last year.
