Suspense Extends: Kerala Onam Bumper ₹25 Crore Draw Postponed to Oct 4 Amid Heavy Rains

Thiruvananthapuram: The eagerly awaited announcement of the Thiruvonam Bumper 2025 lottery winner will now have to wait until October 4. The Kerala State Lottery Directorate announced late Friday that the draw, originally scheduled for this afternoon, has been postponed.

In an official statement, the directorate cited unexpected heavy rainfall across the state and a recent change related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the primary reasons for the delay. These factors significantly hampered the complete sale of tickets by agents and vendors. The decision was made in response to numerous requests from the sellers themselves, who were facing a crisis due to the disruption in last-minute sales.

Earlier, the lottery department had confirmed that all 7.5 million tickets printed for this year’s bumper draw had been sold out to registered agencies. However, the continuous downpour on Friday created a major bottleneck for these agencies in selling their stock to the public.

As of the latest figures, Palakkad district leads in sales, having sold 1,407,100 tickets. Thrissur follows in second place with 937,400 tickets, and Thiruvananthapuram is third with 875,900 tickets distributed to agencies. Last year, a total of 7.14 million Thiruvonam Bumper tickets were sold.

Onam Bumper 2025 Prize Structure

The prize structure remains as attractive as ever, with the grand first prize of ₹25 crore. The second prize will be awarded to 20 individuals, each receiving ₹1 crore, while 20 third-prize winners will get ₹50 lakh each. Other significant prizes include a fourth prize of ₹5 lakh and a fifth prize of ₹2 lakh, both for 10 series of tickets. Additionally, numerous smaller prizes of ₹5,000, ₹2,000, ₹1,000, and ₹500 are up for grabs.

The Thiruvonam Bumper 2025 ticket was officially released on July 28 by State Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal.
