”ED Raids a Diversionary Tactic to Bury Gold Smuggling Scandal,” Alleges Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan, Backing Union Minister Suresh Gopi’s Observation

Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has praised Union Minister Suresh Gopi for his alleged observation that the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on film actors were a calculated move to “bury the gold smuggling controversy.”

Speaking to the press, Satheesan noted that the Minister’s statement lent credence to the Opposition’s long-held stance. “I commend Union Minister Suresh Gopi for identifying that the ED raid against actors is intended to sink the gold smuggling scandal,” Satheesan stated.

He pointed out a curious political anomaly in the timing of the central agency’s actions. “Usually, the ED launches an investigation when the Central Government faces a crisis. But here, the ED has launched an investigation when the State Government is in crisis,” he explained.

Satheesan suggested a possible “unholy political nexus” behind the ED’s actions. He added that if a Union Minister suggests the ED has stepped in for this reason, “there is no need to disbelieve it. He would have more knowledge about it.”

The Opposition Leader further emphasized, “If the Union Minister says that the ED is raiding the homes of actors to save the Kerala government and divert attention from the gold loot, there is no reason to disbelieve it.” Satheesan concluded by asserting that the Union Minister has now essentially corroborated the very claims the Opposition has been making.
