CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD! India Crush New Zealand to Claim Historic Third T20 World Cup Title

AHMEDABAD – In front of a sea of blue at the Narendra Modi Stadium, India etched their name in the record books by dismantling New Zealand by 96 runs to lift the T20 World Cup. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Men in Blue became the first team in history to defend their T20 title and the first to win the trophy three times.

Adding to the glory, India also became the first nation to clinch the T20 World Cup trophy on home soil, sending a crowd of over 100,000 into a state of pure euphoria.

The Batting Blitz: Record-Breaking 255

After losing the toss and being asked to bat, India unleashed a clinical offensive to post a mammoth 255/5 in 20 overs—the highest-ever score in a T20 World Cup Final.

  • Sanju Samson’s Masterclass: The backbone of the innings was Kerala’s own Sanju Samson, who played a sublime knock of 89. Samson took the Kiwi attack apart with effortless strokeplay, ensuring India never lost momentum.
  • Abhishek Sharma’s Fireworks: The young southpaw set the tone early, smashing the fastest half-century of the tournament off just 18 balls.
  • Late Surge: Ishan Kishan (54 off 25) and Shivam Dube (26 off 8) provided the final flourish, punishing the New Zealand bowlers in the death overs to push the total past the 250-mark.

The Bowling Masterclass: Kiwis Left Reeling

Chasing a mountain of 256, New Zealand never looked like they were in the hunt. The Indian bowling unit, backed by a deafening home crowd, dismantled the Black Caps’ lineup, bowling them out for 159 in 19 overs.

  • Bumrah’s Brilliance: Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is the world’s best, returning figures that included 4 crucial wickets.
  • Axar’s Spin Web: Axar Patel strangled the middle order, picking up 3 wickets and drying up the runs when New Zealand attempted a recovery.

A New Era of Dominance

As Suryakumar Yadav hoisted the trophy under the Ahmedabad lights, the victory signaled India’s undisputed dominance in the shortest format of the game. From Abhishek Sharma’s youthful aggression to Samson’s composure and Bumrah’s lethal precision, it was a complete team performance that will be remembered for decades.
