V.D. Satheesan Emerges as Kerala’s Most Popular Leader; UDF Leads Post-Poll Mood: CPDS Survey 2026

Thiruvananthapuram: Following the high-stakes 2026 Kerala Assembly Elections, the latest post-poll survey by the Centre for Policy and Development Studies (CPDS) indicates a significant shift in the state’s political climate. V.D. Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition, has emerged as the most popular choice for the top post, while the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) holds a commanding lead in overall alliance support.

Satheesan Outpaces Vijayan in Popularity

According to the survey conducted between April 10 and April 25, 2026, V.D. Satheesan leads the charts with 39% of respondents naming him the leader “closest to the people.” Incumbent Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan follows with 33%, a notable decline compared to previous years.

The UDF’s strength is further reflected in the top five rankings, with K.C. Venugopal (28%) and Ramesh Chennithala (26%) occupying the third and fourth spots, respectively. Rajeev Chandrasekhar of the BJP/NDA rounds out the list at 21%, marking him as the most popular saffron leader in the state.
