THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level attempt within the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to pressure Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan into a misleading Himachal Pradesh power deal has been successfully exposed.
Sensational media headlines had claimed that Kerala would face power cuts from November 1 as the CM was sitting on the Himachal power purchase file. However, documentary evidence now reveals that these reports were part of a deliberate campaign orchestrated by key figures within KSEB.
Official documents from the Rajasthan Regulatory Commission confirm that Rajasthan had already agreed to purchase Himachal’s surplus power on October 17. The digitally signed confirmation dated October 18 clearly indicated that the power allocated to Himachal was already secured by Rajasthan. Despite knowing this, top officials at KSEB continued to urge the Chief Minister to approve the non-existent deal with Himachal.
Refusing to be pressured by artificial power-cut threats, CM V.D. Satheesan thoroughly reviewed the files, uncovered the digital footprints, and foiled KSEB’s hidden agenda, safeguarding the state’s exchequer from unnecessary financial burden.
