Nepal Flood Horror Crosses Border: Seven Bodies Wash Up in Indian Rivers

Lucknow/Kathmandu: The devastating impact of deadly flash flooding in Nepal appears to have crossed international borders, with Indian authorities recovering seven bodies from rivers flowing into Uttar Pradesh from Nepal.
Officials believe the victims may have been swept into India by powerful floodwaters following the deadly flash floods in Nepal.

The bodies were recovered from rivers in the Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts of Uttar Pradesh, close to Nepal’s flood-hit southern region of Chitwan.

According to officials, four unidentified bodies were recovered in Maharajganj district on Thursday. District Magistrate Gaurav Singh Sogarwal said authorities suspect the bodies may have been carried across the border by strong flood currents originating in Nepal.
Authorities believe the victims may have been swept downstream into Indian territory following the sudden and destructive flooding.
Meanwhile, three additional bodies were recovered in Kushinagar district, located around 70 kilometres downstream from the India-Nepal frontier. Police officials said investigations are underway to establish the identities of the deceased.

Indian authorities are now working to identify all seven bodies and determine whether they were among those affected or reported missing during the deadly flooding in Nepal. Officials are expected to coordinate with relevant authorities and compare available information about missing persons from the flood-hit areas.

The incident highlights the devastating cross-border consequences of natural disasters in the Himalayan region. Powerful flash floods can rapidly carry debris, vehicles and even human bodies across long distances through interconnected river systems.

The Nepal flood disaster has caused widespread concern, while rescue and identification efforts continue. Further details are expected once authorities complete the process of identifying the recovered victims.
