Political Pause, Literary Pen: Congress Veteran Ramesh Chennithala Announces Novel Debut, ‘New Year Gift,’ for January Release

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, known for his formidable presence in the political arena, is set to swap the bustle of legislative halls for the quietude of authorship. The veteran politician is embarking on a new venture, announcing his literary debut with a novel scheduled for release in January 2026.

Sources indicate that Chennithala, currently engaged in the final editing touches of his manuscript, will present the novel as his “New Year Gift” to the reading public. The work is described as an American-Indian novel, suggesting a narrative woven across transatlantic cultural landscapes.

This move marks a significant departure for the leader, who remains a key figure in Kerala politics. The reading world is eagerly anticipating how much of his long and eventful political career, including his experiences and perspectives, will be reflected in his fiction.

Following the publication of his first work, Chennithala already has plans for a second novel. This subsequent project will reportedly focus on the unique culture and natural beauty of Kuttanad, the region known as the rice bowl of Kerala, indicating a deep interest in exploring his home district through literature. The second novel will commence after his debut work is officially released.
