Kollam: Seethakali, one of Kerala’s unique traditional folk art forms, will be staged on Saturday, November 7, at 6:30 PM at the Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Complex, Asramam, Kollam. The event is organized under the auspices of the Kerala Folklore Academy, with the coordination of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.
Rooted deeply in the cultural heritage of Kollam, Seethakali is a traditional folk art form based on the epic Ramayana. Combining song, dance, and dramatic expression, this art form portrays the life of Sita and various episodes from the Ramayana through a distinctive presentation style.
The primary objective of the program is to introduce Seethakali—which embodies the unique characteristics of local artistic traditions and popular art culture—to the younger generation, while also aiming to preserve and promote heritage art forms. This event promises to be a golden opportunity for art lovers and the general public in Kollam.
