’Is It Because He’s a Comrade?’: Actress Mala Parvathy Slams Alleged Slow Pace in P.T. Kunju Muhammed Molestation Probe

KOCHI: Prominent actress Mala Parvathy has directed fierce criticism at the alleged deliberate delay in taking action against former CPI(M) MLA P.T. Kunju Muhammed in connection with a sexual molestation complaint.

The actress took to her official Facebook page to question the slow pace of the investigation, openly suggesting that the accused’s political standing within the ruling Left Front was the cause.

“Why is there no light yet? Because he is a Comrade and belongs to the Left Front… I strongly condemn this further,” Mala Parvathy wrote in a post featuring Kunju Muhammed’s photograph.

The criticism comes amid reports of noticeable inaction following a sexual assault complaint filed by a female director against the veteran politician.

According to sources, even after the survivor submitted her complaint directly to the Chief Minister’s office, the letter was only forwarded to the Director General of Police (DGP) after a delay of 13 days. Furthermore, despite the police recording the survivor’s statement, the former MLA has reportedly not yet been called in for questioning.

The situation has sparked widespread condemnation regarding the state’s handling of complaints against powerful political figures. It is also noted that even the women leaders within the CPI(M) have refrained from publicly commenting on the issue, reinforcing the perception that the government is intentionally dragging its feet when a molestation complaint is filed against a high-profile party member.
