THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a major push to bolster the state’s industrial framework and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, the inauguration of the expanded Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (CMEDP) alongside the distribution of its initial loans will take place today, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
The official launch ceremony is being held at the Lemon Tree Premier Hotel in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri V. D. Satheesan will formally inaugurate the scheme and handover the first loan sanctions to selected beneficiaries.
Key Highlights of the Scheme:
Enhanced Financial Assistance: Financial assistance up to ₹5 Crore will be made available for viable business ventures.
Subsidized Interest Rates: Loans are provided at a highly concessional interest rate of 6%.
Simplified Process: Speedy loan processing with hassle-free and simplified procedures designed to help emerging businesses.
Objective: Aimed at transforming Kerala’s MSME ecosystem and generating widespread employment opportunities across the state.
The event is organized by the Kerala Financial Corporation (KFC) under the leadership of Managing Director Umesh N. S. K. IAS. Speaking on the occasion, KFC management highlighted that this expansion marks a milestone in Kerala’s entrepreneurial trajectory, ensuring robust financial backing for local enterprises.
