Kochi: Actress Manju Warrier has initiated legal action against filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, filing a defamation case before the Ernakulam Munsiff Court. The actress has alleged that the director has been making false and defamatory remarks against her through social media and other platforms.
Manju Warrier has sought the removal of social media posts allegedly made by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and has also sought legal relief over the alleged defamatory statements. Advocate Shanthi Mayadevi is representing the actress in the proceedings.
Disputed Social Media Claims
Sanal Kumar Sasidharan had repeatedly made statements concerning Manju Warrier on social media. Among the claims attributed to him were allegations that the actress was under the control of certain “rackets” and statements concerning an alleged romantic relationship with him. Manju Warrier has now approached the court over what she describes as defamatory and false statements.
The legal development comes amid a series of public statements and protests by the filmmaker. Sanal Kumar had staged a hunger strike outside the Kerala Secretariat, raising demands concerning the Hema Committee report while also making allegations related to Manju Warrier.
