Honeymoon on Wheels Costs TTE His Job! Indian Railways Suspends Official Over Viral ‘First AC Coupe’ Decor

MUMBAI / JALNA: A romantic surprise planned for a newlywed couple inside an Indian Railways train has backfired heavily. The South Central Railway (SCR) has placed a Chief Ticket Inspector (CTI) under immediate suspension and ordered a high-level departmental inquiry after a video showing a First AC coupe lavishly decorated like a “honeymoon suite” went viral across social media platforms.

The incident took place aboard Train No. 11002 Nandigram Express (running between Mumbai CSMT and Balharshah) at the Jalna railway station in Maharashtra.

Inside the ‘Suhagraat Express’
The viral clip, which many netizens jokingly dubbed the “Suhagraat Express,” showcases a reserved private First AC coupe completely transformed. The ceiling was blanketed with red and white balloons, the lower berths were covered in clean white sheets styled with a heart shape made of red rose petals, and thousands of additional petals were scattered across the floor. To top it off, a string of fairy lights illuminated the cabin alongside a prominent “I Love You” message pasted on the upper berth wall.
Reports indicate that the couple had privately booked an event-styling service online based out of Jalna to execute the surprise before they boarded the train.

The Security Breach and Railway Action
While internet users were highly divided—some praising the romantic gesture and others questioning the fire hazards of balloons and lights—the Indian Railways viewed the incident through a strict security lens.

According to railway authorities, the primary issue was not the decoration itself, but the serious security breach that allowed outsiders to trespass onto a moving public vehicle. A senior spokesperson for the South Central Railway confirmed that a private decoration team entered the premium coach at Jalna station entirely without authorization.

“The decorator’s entry into the coach at Jalna station was unauthorized and is viewed as a serious lapse. The concerned staff member (the Ticket Checker on duty) has been placed under suspension, and a detailed departmental inquiry has been ordered,” the railway zone stated.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has also summoned and booked the event decorator under the provisions of the Railway Act 1989 for unauthorized entry, boarding without a ticket, and trespassing. The inquiry will further investigate how outsiders managed to gain prolonged, unsupervised access to a First AC coach.
