THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a major welfare measure aimed at supporting industrial training students across the state, the Kerala Government led by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has approved the allocation of ₹12 crore for the implementation of nutrition and midday meal schemes in Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
According to the official order, the government has decided to extend the nutritional support and lunch programs for ITI students up to March 31, 2027. This decision ensures uninterrupted, daily nutritional support for thousands of trainees undergoing technical education across Kerala.
To streamline the execution of this initiative, the state government has authorized the Director of Training to disburse and utilize the required funds directly from the earmarked state budget allocation.
Educational experts and student representatives have welcomed the move, noting that providing balanced nutrition during intensive practical and vocational training significantly boosts learning performance and student well-being.
