SANTOS / BRAZIL — Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. has triggered widespread debate across the football community after issuing a blunt warning to Santos supporters, urging fans who bring a negative attitude to the stadium to stay at home instead.
Addressing the fan base after a tense match that saw Santos pull off a dramatic comeback, Neymar acknowledged the frustration supporters have endured over recent seasons but insisted that pessimism inside the stadium only hurts the squad.
”I know Santos fans have been suffering for many years, but if they keep thinking about that and come to the stadium with a negative mindset, it’s better to stay at home,” Neymar said.
He went on to criticize fair-weather support, highlighting how quickly the atmosphere shifted once the team began winning.
”Then we turned the game around and they were cheering for us. That’s easy,” he added.
The forward’s candid remarks have split the Santos faithful. While some defend Neymar for pushing for unconditional home support, others argue that fans have earned the right to express frustration after years of underperformance.
